Fighting words

One would have to go back years to find the true start, but undefeated UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey fired the most recent salvo against Cris “Cyborg” Justino, saying,

This girl [Justino] has been on steroids for so long and [has been] injecting herself for so long that she’s not even a woman anymore. She’s an ‘it.’ It’s not good for the women’s division. It’s not good at all.

Dana White, UFC President, did not reprimand Rousey for those comments.  Instead, White joined the fray:

I said, when I saw her [Justino] at the MMA Awards, she looked like Wanderlei Silva in a dress and heels. And she did. Did she not? Who wants to dispute that she didn’t look like Wanderlei? She got up, walked up the stairs jacked up on steroids beyond belief and looked like Wanderlei Silva.

Not one to turn the other cheek, in an interview with MMA Fighting, Justino has responded.

I’m not surprised (she [Rousey] wasn’t punished) because she’s UFC’s paper champion. They obviously would never punish her, even because her opponents are handpicked.

I always admired Dana White as a great businessman that always believed in MMA and helped our sport to grow around the world. And I’m sure that, with the power he has, he would never go against his paper champion.

Don’t expect this hatchet to be buried anytime soon.
