Miesha Tate gets majority decision win over Sara McMann at UFC 183
At UFC 183, Miesha Tate (16-5) and Sara McMann (8-2) ended the Fox Sports 1 prelim card with a fight that went all three rounds. McMann had Tate in trouble initially, but Tate was able to turn it around and control McMann enough to get a majority decision win. The final scores were 29-28, 29-27, and 28-28.
MMA Junkie has a slideshow of the weigh-in and fight. Here’s one of our favorites:
Although she lost, McMann got some good striking in – enough to break Tate’s orbital bone. Tate posted a photo to Instagram, saying the broken orbital bone “…hurts quite a bit and I can’t look down without pain and blurred vision but I am in good spirits!” Following her victory, Tate called out undefeated Bethe Correia (9-0) on Twitter, which, if she won, would make two fighters whose undefeated records she destroyed. In her fight prior to UFC 183, Tate ended Rin Nakai’s 16-fight unbeaten streak with a unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night – Hunt vs Nelson in Saitama, Japan. So far, there’s been no official word on Tate’s next fight.
Post fight selfie! No makeup no filter, I am surprised a broken orbital bone can look completely normal, it still hurts quite a bit and I can’t look down without pain and blurred vision but I am in good spirits! Sara packs one hell of a punch I will say that much!! I will keep everyone updated on the healing process! Thanks for the support!!
