UFC 190: Claudia Gadelha beats Jessica Aguilar after a dominant performance
Claudia Gadelha (13-1) dominated the full three rounds against former WSOF strawweight champion Jessica Aguilar (19-5) at UFC 190 to get the win via unanimous decision. Gadelha, who has only lost to current champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk (10-0), left Aguilar bloodied and with a probably broken nose.
In her post-fight speech, Gadelha asked for Jedrzejczyk again. Given their close first fight, which many argued Gadelha won, it was expected and well-received. UFC president Dana White tweeted:

With Jedrzejczyk’s destruction of both Carla Esparza (10-3) and Jessica Penne (12-3), two of the strawweight division’s most experienced and talented fighters, Gadelha is a logical choice. Not only was their first fight close, but Gadelha is also a veteran fighter who’s demonstrated the consistency of her game.
No word yet on when the fight might happen, although Jedrzejczyk will be out for a few more months following surgery on her thumb.
Gadelha was a good UFC-debut fight for Aguilar; Gadelha is the caliber fighter Aguilar deserved. If Aguilar had beat Gadelha, she would have further established herself as a sincere talent and threat. While she lost decisively and came out fairly bruised and battered, her performance was competent. Though no strawweight has been named as Aguilar’s next match, Tecia Torres (6-0) or Joanne Calderwood (10-1) would be interesting fights for her.
Does Gadelha deserve the next title shot? Who do you want to see Aguilar face next?
